AITA: Dealing with an Overwhelming Number of Pets at Home

1–2 minutes

In this week’s episode, my wife and I talk about a mom who keeps buying pets after the family dog passes away. The daughter ends up lashing out, feeling guilty, and asking Reddit whether she was the a**h*** for losing her temper.

But the daughter has things going on, too. She recently dropped out of high school and isn’t leaving the house these days.

From Reddit’s Am I the a**h***?

“I (f16) understand she does a lot for me, but home is chaos. She buys pets like it’s water.

Since my childhood dog died my mum has brought 56 animals home.this includes frogs, dogs, geckos, birds ext. mainly birds.

I live at home and I am home 24/7 since I’ve left school now and I hate going out. The amount of birds is insane. INSANE. They never stop ever. The dogs? Chew everything rip clothes ruin furniture.

I have had 4 shoes chewed up ,7 shirts ripped ,3 pillows torn like it’s just all downsides.

I personally love animals and have a massive empathy towards them. But this is crazy,

So main story. My mum came home with 4 new big birds. I gave her a look like are you serious and she said do you like them . I said no, we have enough. And then I started yelling saying “we have so many animals and your never home to take care of them, your animals are now my responsibility!” I said this because both my parents work full time and are tired when they get home. I clean up the mess, feed them, give them water, overall take care of them. But now I feel terrible, it’s my mum, what if she’s just tryna fill a void since the dog? I don’t know if I’m in the wrong , brutal honesty PLEASE AITA?!”
